Our Mission at Mercy & Shield

At Mercy & Shield, we’re preparing a Christ-centered refuge devoted to restoring dignity and hope to children and families affected by trauma. Our mission is to create a future home for healing — where faith, counseling, and community walk hand in hand toward restoration.

Human trafficking occurs in all 50 U.S. states (DHS) • An estimated 27.6 million people are trapped in trafficking worldwide (U.S. DOT / ILO) • 61% of detected victims are women and girls (UNODC Global Report) • Detected victims increased by ~25% from 2019–2022 (UNODC Press) • In the U.S., 1,118 trafficking convictions were recorded in 2022 (BJS) • In 2021, 10,359 trafficking cases were reported via the National Hotline (Polaris)

We seek to lead with compassion, grace, and understanding, seeing every life through the eyes of Christ.

Truth

We draw strength from God’s Word, bringing light, honesty, and wisdom into every act of care and restoration.

Restoration

We believe no life is beyond healing, and every story can be rebuilt through hope and faith.

7 Promises of Restoration

At Mercy & Shield, we hold to seven promises of restoration reflected throughout Scripture 

—  reminders of how God heals and redeems His people:    

Wholeness

  •  — “I will restore health to you, and heal your wounds...” (Jeremiah 30:17)

    • Healing

  • — “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)

    • Hope

  • — “For I know the plans I have for you…to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

    • Freedom

  • — “He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives.” (Luke 4:18)

    • Renewal

  • — “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)

    • Dignity

  • — “You will be called Sought After, the City No Longer Deserted.” (Isaiah 62:12)

    • Love

  • — “The greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)
